There are

days until LOST returns

I am a writer and freelance videographer/independent filmmaker living in north-central North Carolina. This blog is meant to be an online reflection of my thoughts and ideas on things that interest me, that I think might be worth sharing with other people. Although my writing may seem overtly political at times, I do not wish to be known as either a "conservative" or a "liberal". Sometimes I express my more spiritual side, which is that of a Christian who believes that the modern church has become too obsessed with the things of this world. I also enjoy traveling, writing, and having a good time with family and friends. And I'm really good at deep-frying turkey.

Basically I'm just a guy who's trying to be what God made him to be... and having a lot of fun along the way!

The Bowie knife my Dad made

My Dad has been working on a Bowie knife lately. The other week he finished it. I thought it'd be neat to post some pictures of it, show off some of his handiwork:

And here's the beginning of my own, the first one that I've worked on in a while:
It'll look a lot better once it's ground and polished. The handle isn't done yet either.

I might post more pics of what comes out of his shop sometime, including his Damascus steel and "railroad-spike" knives.

I HAVE VIEWED A THOUSAND BEAUTIFUL BOWIE KNIVES. YOUR KNIVES ARE PLAIN BUT THEY LOOK VERY PROFESSIONAL. I LIKE THEM. I HAVE RESEARCHED JAMES BOWIE AND HIS KNIVES, SO I AM SURE THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT I HAVE. MY LAST PAPER IS TITLED "THE TRUE STORY OF JAMES BOWIE'S CLIP-POINT KNIFE. CWJACOBS1@JUNO.COM
